Push for ICAC probe sends NuCoal value down almost 25%
SMH November 21, 2011 ALMOST $60 million has been wiped from the value of NuCoal Resources, after moves to ask the Independent Commission Against Corruption to investigate the awarding of its main exploration licence by the former Labor minister Ian Macdonald. The Resources and Energy Minister, Chris Hartcher, has introduced a resolution to Parliament asking ICAC to investigate the granting of the licence by Mr Macdonald to a company, Doyles Creek Mining, in December 2008. Doyles Creek Mining was chaired by a former national secretary of the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union, John Maitland, who also held an 11 per cent shareholding. In February last year, NuCoal took over Doyles Creek Mining and was floated with a market capitalisation...
